Namal speaks about CSN ownership
MP Namal Rajapaksa who joined in an interview over a rupavahini channel yesterday argued that the Rajapaksa Family had no connection with the ownership of CSN Channel. What he said was that because younger brother Yoshitha's girl
friend was holding a prominent position there, their family supported the CSN Channel as a support for her. Whatever it is, Namal was reluctant to mention what the support was. The dialogue which was broadcast over the air on Hiru TV Salakuna is as follows:
"My second brother's girl friend worked on this CSN Channel. So he started visiting that place often. In the same way he was active as the captain of the rugger team .... provided support. So if anyone asked for some support we would grant it whenever possible. If his girl friend would come and ask for a favour of course it would be done.
* What support was given that way?
When she told some things of hers to be done .... those were done. But since these are matters related to courts, I can't say what they are.
* Was support given to your girl friend or was a Channel given to the girl friend?
I don't think my younger brother is so foolish so as to give the girl friend a Channel. Not only when she was working there ... support was extended when going to resthouses. For this age of ours we of course would give any support asked for, isn't it?
* Was clicking photos with staff members also granting of a favour?
It's like this no. When I used to come to this Channel and also when outdoors how many photos we clicked! This channel is not mine. Not only pictures taken with Yoshitha ..... there are pictures taken with me there. There are photos taken of cricketers and politicos as well.
* Isn't the name Carlton which is in the CSN Network?
Yes ... anybody can register that name.
* When members of your family used to engage in various matters using the name Carlton, wasn't it a problem with others using this name?
The rights of that name of course doesn't belong to us no. Anybody can use that name.
