Bandula explains parliament incident

The MP Mr. Bandula Goonawardena addressed a media get together of the Joint Opposition yesterday in Colombo and said that the brawl which took place in parliament a couple of days back was planned out by the government party in
power. In that instance MP Bandula inferred that the MP Sandith of the UNP was made to be assaulted at the hands of the MP Prasanna of the Joint Opposition and had to be hospitalised as a procedure of a pre-planned setting.

He went on to say, "the government imposed the VAT on the 2nd and put the people into inconvenience. It was to forget that topic that other things were brought forward trying to deviate the attention of the masses, which had been planned. It was in that manner that the security of the national leader who saved the country was stripped off. When Dinesh questioned about it Ranil gave a short answer and paved the way for Fonseka to go ahead with an already prepared talk. He was someone who was rejected by the public who got about 28000 votes in the whole country and who was taken in by Ranil after scrapping off the others. He's not a representation of the Ministry of the Defence. On that occasion when the true Opposition went against it, their fighting started. The only thing we did was retaliate. What happened in the end was that the retaliation was exaggerated as an assault and an MP was admitted to hospital. The Joint Opposition were given the image of thugs. Because of this setting up, all talks about VAT were thrown under the carpet".
