Anura Senanayaka arrested
The former Western Province Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police has been taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation Department today in connection with the death of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen. After having been produced before Magistrate's Court this afternoon the police were given permission to remand him for 3 days
and to interrogate him.
The police say that he has been subjected to suspicion on two counts of issueing orders to consider the Wasim Thajudeen murder as an accident and for having concealed facts from the police. He was interrogated during a week sometime back and as he had not divulged all information accurately, Therefore he has been arrested and the necessity to interrogate him has cropped up where the police is concerned.
After he was taken into custody he was produced before Court No. 3 Magistrate's Court of Aluthkade Court of Law and the Additional Magistrate of Colombo, Mr. Nishantha Peiris ordered that he be remanded till next 26th.
