Brathwaite sixes take West Indies to WC T20 victory

The West Indies team was able to defeat England and clinch victory in the Final T20 World Cup
played today at Eden Gardens, Calcutta, India.

The West Indies who won the toss elected to field first and was thus able to limit the England innings to a total of 155 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. However, when West Indies batted they unexpectedly lost their wickets during the first few overs and were rendered hopeless. Later, Samuels and Bravo tried to readjust the situation of the West Indies by braving it out. Though the West Indies did not give up hopes until the last over and engaged in a neck to neck fight, England were the favourites even by that time.

The West Indies nevertheless were fortunate enough to erase any signs of pressure for victory on account of the four sixes Carlos Brathwaite hammered in the last over which required 19 runs for victory. As such, it was the West Indies who succeeded in clinching the T20 world Cup this time.

The Man of the Match was Marlon Samuels while the Hero of the Tournament was Kohli of the Indian team. It is of special importance to record that the Women's World Cup too was won by the West Indies. A few days prior to this, the West Indies managed to become victorious as World Champions in the Under 19 tournament as well.
