Security goes dumb at Deputy Minister's question ....
Lovers victorious at taboo-zone of Independent Square
A video was circulated all over the internet during the past few days about an effort taken by two security personnel taking steps in limiting lovers moving about at the Independent Square location in Colombo 7. While this action was
condemned by most people across the social media, later a group of lovers had got together and had organised a protest against it this evening.
When this video was released to the internet by the previously mentioned couple of lovers who were trapped in this issue, the security officer who videoed it from a different angle had said that the action he took was correct and so saying he had released it to the internet. They too were watching the proceedings while engaging in their duties during the protest concerned as to what the outcome would be.
At this point Deputy Minister Harsha de Silva, MP for District of Colombo appeared there to speak about this problem armed with the relevant circular from the Ministry of Culture and what he questioned from the security officers in the presence of the media was as to under what law such an act of prevention was launched. In that instance both the officers were speechless. The Deputy Minister said that such a thing was not expressed in the circular he had in his hand. At that point what was revealed was that the two officers had carried out rules which they themselves had administered according to their own whims and fancies and had thus ruled authority over Independent Square.
Subsequent to this incident the rule of prohibition would be ruled out from today. The video depicting the moment when the incident first took place and the moment when the Deputy Minister arrived on the scene today, from below
