New lease of life Paba commenced with ....

Former member of parliament and tele-actress Upeksha Swarnamali entered into her second marriage last week. Because of the bitter experience she sustained from her first marriage to a car-sale owner and rumours spreading that she was to wed again and as it changed at the eleventh hour, Upeksha

had taken steps not to reveal as to who the new bridegroom is until the date of the marriage. However now the identity of her groom has come to light.

The groom Samantha Perera is a resident of Ja Ela and ironically he too is a car-sale businessman. Samantha is 8 years elder to Upeksha. This is what Upeksha has said about all this: "It's a big strength to me. He is in a position to understand my life very well. He has given me patronage for my political programmes. It was then that I came to know him. It was in the year 2011 that I met him. Beyond that there was no special alliance with him. But I see him as a good person. Every decision that I have taken in my life has been diverted in some direction or the other by my destiny, by my kamma or else by my foolishness. But this marriage was entered into with a big sense of faith. It wasn't through a romance that I came to know him. On the other hand it was after he had really made a check on me that he took this decision. Even mother's blessings were given for the marriage and the background of the families too is compatible".

Samantha has mentioned the following to a weekend newspaper about Upeksha:

"It was in the year 2011 that I came to know Upeksha. After that I was involved in a number of political activities with her. On such occasions I noticed how she engaged in political affairs with big faith. Actually she's a simple character at that. A type of character who would bestow a sense of respect to anybody. At the same time a good-hearted character. It's a busy life that she undergoes. At the same time is very popular. But none of those things cast an influence on our private life. Acting is her profession. It's knowing her limits that she gets involved in her work. I think that there's no necessity for me to impose limitations on her. She is quite able to distinguish between good and bad.

By now she has put a stop to political activities. But she likes social service a lot. She will proceed with it. The only thing I have seen is that however much she's a popular figure .... she's so simple. A character with whom anything could be discussed and solved. A woman who has a wonderful understanding. The other thing is, it's when there's no understanding that problems surface. I have a good understanding about her. Just as much as there are matters that the media should know, there are things that they should not know. What I think is that any decision necessary for our personal life should be taken and those should not be divulged to the media. There are instances when the media also report certain things in a misinterpreted manner. It was we ourselves who came into a decision that until we get married, details about it need not be revealed in detail. I don't see that Upeksha was slung mud at across the internet as such .... because those are foolish things done by stupid people. We two know who the two of us are. We don't read things which are called gossip. I have more important things to attend to. In certain instances in my life I have taken advice from her. I get a big support from her for my business activities. Our homes gave the sanction for our decisions.
