Exchange of fists during the Lumbini - Bandaranaike big match
It was reported that after the completion of the big match between Gampaha Bandaranaike Vidyalaya and Colombo Lumbini Vidyalaya played at the SSC grounds on day before yesterday the 17th instant there had been a clash
between two factions of the spectators.
A senior superintendent of police had added that students of both schools had been behaving in a mischievous manner and the police had intervened to control them.The SSP had said this to the Island newspaper.
Some students had even started pelting stones at buses.Fiur students had been arrested by the police for this mischievous act.It was also reported that a few students had been injured in the process but had fled while they were bleeding from the wounds they had sustained in the fights.
It had also been reported by this SSP that some students in the process had even damaged the property of the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC).
Under the instructions of the headquarters Inspector of the Cinnamon gardens police station,Chief Inspector Anura Delgahapitiya,the officer in charge of the criminal investigations unit Sub Inspector Herath is conducting investigations into this incident of the unruly behaviour of the students of Gampaha Bandaranaike Vidyalaya and Colombo Lumbini Vidyalaya.
