Story of how Vigneswaran worshipped Buddha for first time at Naga Vihara ....
for the National Anthem having been sung in Tamil
The National Anthem being sung in Tamil Language on the 68th National Independence
Day a few days ago was a topic subjected to various dialogues. The fact that the Chief Minister of Northern Province, C.V. Vigneshwaran was highly elated, he had visited the Naga Vihara in Jaffna and worshipped the Buddha for the first time day-before-yesterday (05) as a token of honour in order to preserve national harmony in this respect and it was a special feature. It is this sort of opinion that the Chief Minister had expressed after worshipping the Buddha:
"It is an omen of the process of of harmony. An acceptance has been created in Sinhala-Tamil brotherhood. I am very pleased for the National Anthem being sung in the Tamil Language. Though it is a of small significance, everything is being turned into a new leaf showing that the brotherhood of Sri Lankan Sinhala and Tamil people is being recognised or accepted now. So to express that idea I visited the incumbent of Naga Vahara. I am happy to say that if the Sinhala public would come one foot forward, we would come ten feet forward in front of the Sinhala public".
