ASP Embilipitiya arrested

At a party held  recently on the second floor of a building in Embilipitiya town a father of a child Sumith Prasanna Jayawardena had died during a tussle  with the police been thrown out of a window.in this premises. In this connection the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Embilipitiya has

been taken into custody by the criminal investigations unit for the alleged death on the 02nd instant.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police is to be produced today to the Embilipitiya magistrate. In the meantime investigations are been continued to arrest a few more police personnel attached to the Embilipitiya police.

It is reported that the Assistant Superintendent of Police Dharmaratne had been summoned to the criminal investigating unit to record a statement and afterwards he had been detained by them. This had been disclosed by the officials of the criminal investigating unit to the 'Island' newspaper.

It is also reported that after a statement that was furnished by the wife of the deceased Sumith Prasanna Jayawardena to courts the Magistrate had instructed to obtain a statement from the Assistant Superintendent of Police.

In this regard after recording the statement the Assistant Superintendent had been arrested by the criminal investigation department.
