It is reported from reliable government sources that the Leader of the democratic party Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is to be sworn in front of the speaker Karu Jayasuriya on the 09th of February as a Member of Parliament from the

UNP's national list.

This vacancy had been created with the demise of the Minister of Lands MKDS Gunawardena. After Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is sworn in as  Member of Parliament he is to be given a powerful cabinet ministerial portfolio subsequently it is reported.
