Web Sites branded me a rogue - Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera

Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka thera  has issued a notice against the fake news published in newspapers, web sites and Face Book pages that he has been branded a thief of baby elephants directly and indirectly. This notice has been issued in this connection to prove his innocence.

Certain news had been published in the web sites that two famous monks would be arrested soon in regard to keeping baby elephants illegally. In this connection the Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera had said that he had been branded an elephant thief.

The notice has been issued to prove his innocence against the news published in newspapers , web sites and Face Book pages that he is accused in this connection and he and another famous Buddhist Monk would be arrested soon.The Uduwe Dhammaloka thera  has been forced by the Dayaka's of his temple to make  a statement in this manner.

He had added that in his entire life he has never done any illegal thing. He had emphasised that in his temple there had been an Elephant and a baby elephant. They had been given shelter openly and to be seen by everyone who visit the temple. All details and documents in respect of the mother elephant are in the possession but he had said that in respect of the baby elephant he has so documents. However in this regard the Thera had informed the related authorities.

The elephants had  not been kept hidden at no stage but had been given to participate in various 'peraheras' for processions. When this government came into power the related Minister had been informed of his possessing the elephants. However the deputy minister had come for media 'exhibition' had taken away the  baby elephant The Thera had said to bring disrepute to his status these fake news are been published in newspapers , websites and Face Book pages.

He also had stated that to maintain Elephants is not an easy task.They need to be fed and kept in good health condition by giving medicine and is a costly affair. He had added that by attaching a wrong label to Elephants  in his possession is very wrong  and is somewhat like conspiring and it needs to be questioned is what the Thera had stated in his notice.
