The Archaeological Chakrawarthi Venerable Ellawela Medananda thera had written a letter to
President Maithripala Sirisena hailing him for making comments on the musical show where he had said that there is no room for musical shows of that nature  in future which harms our culture and heritage. Those responsible in organising such shows should be brought to book and whipped with "Madu Waligaya". For his uttering this to the media Venerable Ellawela Medananda thera had said gold should be stuffed in President's mouth for his brave saying:.

Today what is heard is that father rapes the daughter. Brother rapes own sister. A youngster rapes a old woman 80 years old. The person in robes embraces the young girl who comes to temple to worship.Another person would rape a wife. In this manner such rapes and things are spreading fast in the country. Drunkenness leads to  people to become psychiatrist patients. In the meantime disgraceful musical shows emerge. There are many who view naked photos via the internet media.

The Thera add further that via mobile phones, Face Book and internet children are misled.Even in remote areas boards are hung advertising rooms for renting. During holidays and after school hours these places are patronised by innocent village children as they have learnt the bad culture from the said media. In this manner there are people who arouse sex and make the growing children to get used to adultery.

The Medananda thera had confessed that music is a medium that relaxes the mind of any person but there are many who try to earn money by organising such musical shows. These type of shows could attract anyone. In this context the action the President had taken should be acclaimed and should be thankful to him to been so bold to act so swiftly for damaging our culture and heritage.
