Do not believe in hoax talks on vouchers-Education Minister

The Minister of education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had said in Parliament that  there a planned conspiracy on the course of action the ministry and the government has taken on the
issue of vouchers for purchase of children's school uniforms in order to mislead the public.

In this regard he had made this comment:

In popular colleges like Ananda,Nalanda and Royal and many others about 95 per cent of these vouchers have been distributed.However many remarks have been made against the issue of these vouchers. Hence there is a suspicion that there is a huge conspiracy to break down this procedure.

Vouchers in the range from Rs 450/- to Rs 1700/-have been already distributed among students.For a student in Grade one a voucher for Rs 450/- is issued and the cost of uniform material of two meters is only Rs 400/- and there is a balance of Rs 50/-With these vouchers the best quality materials could be purchased.

This procedure has been introduced only recently and certain defects have been found which need to be rectified the Minister had added. Hence next year the procedure will be made sans these shortcomings.

The allegation that is aimed is now that the parents in villages have to come to a town to purchase uniform material. The Minister had said that the voucher is valid for three months and hence there is time for them to come to a city or a town during that period.
