TNA party has boycotted the Deepavali festival organised at Temple Trees
It is reported that a ceremony to mark the Deepavali festival had been organised at the Temple Trees.It is learnt that despite the invitation extended to the Members of the Tamil National Alliance they had not accepted the invitation and had boycotted the ceremony.
A spokesman for the TNA had said that as they expected those in custody as LTTE prisoners to be released and hence as a protest the Members of Parliament of the TNA had boycotted showing their dissent.
On account of the funeral of the most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha thera the President Maithripala Sirisena too had not participated in the Deepavali ceremony.The Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and his wife Maithri Wickremasinghe had participated.
In commemorating a new stamp on behalf Deepavali and a first day cover had been issued at yesterday's Deepavali ceremony at the Temple Trees.
