Public to upload complaints of bribery, a new website
The authorities of the Bribery and Corruption investigation unit for the convenience of the public are to establish a new web site named "I paid a bribe". The authorities of the Bribery and Corruption investigating unit is to commence this website on the 09th of next month on the prevention of
corruption day when President Maithripala Sirisena would attend as the ceremony on this day as the chief guest.
The complaints could be made to this website with photographs and videos by the complainant. To enable these complaints to be investigated a new unit is hoped to be established. The names of those who lodge complaints to this website would be kept strictly confidential hence those who propose to complain would feel free to do so has been told by the authorities of the commission.
The Director General of the bribery and corruption investigating unit Dilrukshi Dias Wickremasinghe has added that any person who tries to lodge fake complaints would be dealt severely and would be prosecuted in court with a jail term of not less than ten years.
The Director General had added that a website in this regard has been established in India and there are many such websites established in many other countries in the world.
