Heart operations  to stop at Colombo, Kandy and Karapitiya hospitals

It is learnt that citing several demands the Anaesthetic consultants in the National Hospital Colombo,Kandy Teaching hospital and the Karapitiya Teaching hospital have resorted to strike action.

The reason for the heart and lung Anaesthetic consultants had requested in writing to the Secretary at the Health Ministry about two weeks ago to which no response has been received by the government lung and heart Anaesthetic society.In the event a discussion is not held before the 11th of November they have threatened to stay away from work which would result in hampering the scheduled heart operations in the Colombo,Kandy and Karapitiya hospitals.

These type of operations it is learnt that are done in only these hospitals and for a day about 12 such operations are performed it is learnt.
