Kodikara, supposed to be a very strong Mahinda supporter has been taken into police custody and remanded over an incident where he had obstructed duties of a police officer.
A few days ago when former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Hall to give a statement to the Presidential Investigation Committee, Mr. Kodikara too had come there with Mahinda's crowd of supporters and only a handful of people had travelled to the top floor in the lift in the company of Mahinda where the commission was being held. Subsequently Mr. Kodikara got involved in an argumentative behaviour near this lift with the police stationed there (for protection purposes) saying that he too wants to go there where Mahinda was.
At that point not acceding to a checking up conducted by the police there he had on the contrary started reprimanding and had behaved in an obstructive manner and having pushed aside a certain police officer in the process, the latter's cap had got thrown off. Thus without paying heed to police orders he had gone up in the lift no sooner it came down to the floor where this incident took place, thus pushing the policeman.
In this manner Mr. Kodikara was summoned to Kurunduwatta Police this morning to get a statement from him for having disobeyed police orders on which occasion he was taken into custody. Having been produced before Colombo Magistrate's Court it was ordered that he was to be remanded till next 23rd.
