Dinuja ... disabled by birth,
passes Scholarship!
A disabled child from Ambalanthota Primary School has been able to pass this time's scholarship examination by securing 167 marks.
This student, Dinuja Nimsara Abeywickrama residing in Ambalanthota Beligalagoda area writes with his bent hand. Since he had acquired an unnatural set of both hands by birth itself he had faced difficulty in performing his day-to-day tasks. However, this student had not let this shortcoming become an obstacle for his education and had managed to display his ability in being successful at the scholarship examination. His father Indika Kumara Abeywickrama is a small-time businessman while his mother Darshani Nilupa Jeewani is an ordinary housewife.
Dinuja has spoken about his success in this manner. "I somehow or other finish all the work given at school daily. What I wanted was to pass the exam and be an example to others. My mother and father both helped me a lot. At the same time I thank my class teacher Mahinda Siriwardena and Kithsiri Sir and Ranjani Guru Meniyo who taught me from Year 1. My desire is to go to a big school. I'll be so happy if I am helped in that context".
