Ants found to bring small particles from inside the stagnant stone Buddha statue

It is reported that from the historical "Gal Viharaya" in Polonnaruwa from recently ants have been bringing in certain small particles like sand from the stagnant Buddha statue to the outside.

It is seen through the stagnant Buddha statue these ants coming out via minute apertures to the outside.This exercise is shown clearly seen for anyone who is viewing.

In this regard the Chief Incumbent Monk in charge of all such temples and statues in historic Polonnaruwa Ven.Vendanruwe Rahula thera had informed of this matter to the officials of the Archaeological department. In response certain officials from the laboratory division of the Archaeological department had visited the premises and had taken samples of particles which the ants bring out for examination in Colombo.
