"Ranale Samayan" shot in front of the courts

A notorious murderer, accused for taking commissions, bribes and also suspected for  many other crimes "Ranale Samayan" when he was brought in a Prison vehicle to Kaduwela magistrate courts for a case against him to be heard, an unidentified gunman had opened fire with his pistol causing

grievous injuries to him making the bystanders dumbfounded had escaped from the scene before anyone could arrest him.

This shooting incident had taken place yesterday the 23rd instant at around 9.30 a.m.The prisoner who was seriously injured is by name Undugoda Pathirannehelage Aruna Udayanga alias "Ranale Samayan".The prisoner "Ranale Samayan"had been admitted to the National hospital Colombo for treatment.

The unidentified gunman had after shooting escaped from the police and the Prison officials by jumping over the parapet wall of the court premises

"Ranale Samayan" had been brought in a Prison vehicle from the prison as a case against him for murder and taking commissions was to be heard in the Kaduwela magistrates courts. He had been shot at while he was taken out of the prison vehicle and was escorted towards the Kaduwela high court premises.

The unidentified gunman had come from towards the magistrate court hall and had shot at "Ranale Samayan" who was escorted by the prison officials before fleeing.

The condition of "Ranale Samayan" is not that serious has been reported by the hospital authorities.The investigations had revealed that the gunman who is unidentified had used a revolver for the shooting.

From the investigations carried out it has revealed that there had been a conflict that had prevailed between two underworld gangs and this shooting had been as a result of taking revenge.
