Five President Security personnel embrace death from ...

Five members of the President Security have passed away as a consequence of the accident which happened in Yagodamulla area in

Minuwangoda this morning. Because of this mishap 4 others were admitted to hospital in a serious condition.

The members of the Security had been heading towards a funeral house at high speed in a Defender and in the process had tried to overtake a private bus in Yagodamulla area in Minuwangoda. On that occasion another private bus had approached in the opposite direction and because of the speed with which that bus had come it was not possible for the bus to stop or immediately curtail its speed. In order to avoid the Defender which was approaching in the wrong direction it had swerved towards the right and at that moment the two buses had collided with each other and in the process the Defender had been trapped in the middle and had got virtually got crushed.

At the moment of the accident two officers of the President Security who were inside the Defender breathed their last on the spot while 3 others who were taken to hospital later passed away. Hospital sources reported that 5 persons including 4 members of the President Security who were injured are being treated at Gampaha Hospital.

Both buses which were involved with the accident were private buses and one bus had been plying from Colombo to Minuwangoda while the other bus had been travelling from Minuwangoda to Colombo, it was reported.
