Driving using Blue tooth or hand free equipment



Driving with Bluetooth or Hand Free equipment to mobile phones is prohibited

According to the Motor Traffic act driving a vehicle using a mobile phone with bluetooth or hand free equipment is an offence. The Police headquarters has announced that driving using such aided equipment to mobile phones is prohibited.
Those who break this law would be punished through law.

The police media spokesman attorney at law ASP Ruwan Gunasekara had added that for such offences there is no provision to issue notices of fine ,hence the offenders would be produced before courts. He also added that there is a opinion among the laymen that in order to prosecute an offender there should be two police officers is a incorrect concept and had said that one police office could bring an accused to book.That opinion is all incorrect he had said.

He also had added that if a driving license of an offender is taken into one's possession that police officer even is unable to issue a temporary licence report ,the police officer could within the law produce the offender to any court.
