Sunil Handunnetti loses his Matara parliamentary seat

In this general election former parliamentarian of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna the popular personality Sunil Handuntetti who had led the JVP campaign in the Matara district has lost his parliamentary seat when the final Matara district results were announced and analysed.

The United Peoples Freedom Alliance for securing a high majority had obtained 05 seats while the United national party had secured 02 seats.

Although the JVP had polled a total of 35270 votes they had not been eligible for a seat.Hence seasoned campaigner Sunil Handunnetti will not have a seat in the next parliament.
