SLFP CRISIS RAISES ITS HEAD AGAIN!

ANURA AND SUSIL LOSE THEIR POSITION

A situation of a crisis has once again emerged within the SLFP just as much it did in the pre-election period
after President Maithripala Sirisena wrote a letter to the former President.

Though a lengthy letter was written conveying various points, the basic objective of the letter was perhaps to notify that the dream of Mahinda in becoming the Prime Minister would not be realised which point was to be driven into the minds of supporters as well as Mahinda himself. Through that process it may have been the ambition of President Maithripala to prevent any crisis taking place at a later stage. What was indicated by what was reported during the past few hours that elapsed was that President Maithripala was subjected to a state of severe inconvenience. What was revealed during the past few hours was a situation where Susil, Anura and the crowd had been obedient to him and refrained from attending Mahinda's rallies at the start and they had subsequently begun to give the wholehearted impression that it was not possible without Mahinda and he then found it a difficult task to find those who respected his opinion where his seniors were concerned.

Though specially avoiding citing Mahinda's meetings even Nimal Siripala himself had spoken good of him at face value, and then he had later said that he was ready to give over the seat of Prime Minister to Mahinda more than acquiring that status for himself. Though six of the seven seniors whom Maithri nominated as those who wanted to sacrifice themselves on behalf of Mahinda were willing, as Fowzie alone declined placing his signature for the matter concerned, it is now evident that it is only Fowzie who has accepted the opinion of Maithri. Under these circumstances, President Maithripala Sirisena has been provided clues that a revolt for leadership within the SLFP is to take place within the next few days under these conditions. As such, steps were immediately taken by comrades Duminda Dissanayaka and Vishwa Warnapala who made a request from Colombo District Courts today (14) to remove the General Secretary of Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and the General Secretary of the United People's Freedom Alliance, Susil Premajayanth with immediate effect from their positions.

Mr. Duminda Dissanayaka has been appointed for the position of Acting General Secretary while Professor Vishwa Warnapala has been appointed for the position of General Secretary of the United People's Freedom Alliance by the President Maithripala Sirisena and the two appointed have been to courts to enforce their positions.  The Colombo District Courts had informed and approved this in accordance with the Constitution. What was said in that instance was that all such decisions had been taken according to the Party Constitution.
