Ajikya Rahane breaks the 40 year old record for most dismissals by a fielder in a Test with 08 catches
On the end of the third day in the ongoing First test between Sri Lanka and India played at the International cricket stadium in Galle, Indian close in fielder Ajikya Rahane
created a world record by having taken 08 catches while fielding close to the wicket in the two innings.
This record was held by a former Australian Captain Greg Chappel in the year 1974 over 40 years ago against the arch rival England in Perth. Subsequently this feat of 07 catches in one Test was equalled by Yajuvindra Singh,Hashan Tillekeratne,Stephen Fleming and Mathew Hayden each taking 07 catches in a single Test.
