Though the media confrontation which is held weekly at Sri Lanka Freedom Party Headquarters

down T.B. Jayah Mawatha, Colombo at 10.30 this morning it was cancelled, it was learned. Instead a meeting of the United People's Freedom Alliance has been arranged to be held at 12.30 .

President Maithripala on expressing his standpoint on the protest against Mahinda yesterday, the Alliance has been subjected to some sort of confusion and it was thought of making some adjustments for future election propaganda activities on the course of action on securing votes for Mahinda, focusing on him. It was also understood that former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa too had come over there for the committee meeting that directed election activities. Before the meeting was begun, when mediamen had quipped, "sir .... what do you say regarding that you would lose and no Prime Minister post would be given?" Mahinda had responded by only saying, "we'll see on 17th will you!"

It was reported that leaders of all Parties representing the Alliance would be attending this. Though the General Secretary of the Party, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa had announced that an emergency meeting of the Central Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party would be held tonight at the Foundation Institute, it was announced that later Chairman Maithripala had cancelled the meeting. However, subsequently when the media questioned from Susil Premajayantha, it was said that the said meeting would be held. What Thilanga Sumathipala said was that such a meeting could be held with signatures of one-third of the Central Executive Committee in the absence of the Chairman.
