BECAUSE OF SAMANMALEE OR FELIX?

Information that General Secretary of the Alliance, Susil Premaajantha was admitted to Nawaloka Hospital,
Colombo as a result of a sudden heart ailment during a decisive discussion regarding nominations which took place last night was flashed across several media this morning.

There had been a number of affiliated reasons for him to become a victim for this ailment and one of those was an argument which surfaced with MP Samanmalee Sakalasuriya for not being given nominations. She had reminded him at length of how she had worked for Mahinda Rajapaksa and had also argued in the process that she has a large number of youth votes to her credit and foregoing those votes could result as a disadvantage for the Alliance. This discussion pertaining to United People's Freedom Alliance nominations had taken place at Minister Felix Perera's home in Colombo.

Dinesh Goonawardena, Prasanna Ranatunge and others had been in the company of Susil Premajayantha when a heated situation had arisen in the night. The issue of giving nominations to PC member Samanmali Sakalasuriya as well as the point of Moratuwa Mayor Samanlal Fernando and former Chairman of Kelaniya Provincial Council Prasanna Ranawera not being given nominations turned into a tensed atmosphere when Samanmalee Sakalasuriya had been arguing she had not been given an opportunity when Mr. Susil Premajayantha had reprimanded her, it was understood. A heated exchange of words too had flared up between Mr. Felix Perera and Mr. Prasanna Ranatunga because of Mr. Prasanna Ranaweera being given nominations and in the process Susil Premajayantha had crouched holding on to his chest and those around him had taken steps to take him to hospital.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in the meantime was speaking at a rally in Piliyandala when he was informed by telephone that Susil was suddenly admitted to hospital. The former President who stopped the meeting halfway had even visited the hospital to see Susil. Whatever it is, having spent the night in relaxation at Nawaloka Hospital he had gone this morning to the location where nominations were being given.
