VILLAGERS GET TOGETHER AND HAND OVER PERADENIYA VARSITY STUDENTS ....
WHO CAME TO BATHE IN AN 'OYA' UTTERING FILTHY WORDS AND ....
TAKING NUDE PHOTOS, TO THE POLICE!
A sensational incident occured yesterday when 4 male students and 1 female student of Year 3 in the
Science and Agriculture Faculties of Peradeniya University had gone to an 'oya' for a bath and had behaved in an indecent manner and in the nude too.
This group had come last afternoon on 3 motor cycles with the intention of having a dip in the small 'oya' situated close to Mahaweli River along Kalugamuwa Ceramic Corporation Road in Peradeniya. Subsequently the villagers in the area had seen them breaking opening bottles of alcohol and having a go. There had been several houses close to this 'oya' and those living in those houses were able to notice the activities of this group. After some time they were able to see some members of the group vomitting having got high and even shouting lewd remarks. Though the inhabitants there were not as a matter of fact vigilant about those who come there to bathe, this happening was a novel experience and therefore they had been focusing their attention on what was happening. What really the neighbours were able to observe was that the 4 males and the young girl in the company were tasting alcohol and talking nonsense. The girl concerned after getting highly intoxicated had subsequently undressed on her own and had posed for nude photographs with the boys. In the process the young boys too had taken off their clothes and had started to behave in an insane manner. Close upon 200 villagers not being able to bear this nutty behaviour of shouting indecent remarks and dancing minus their clothes approached the 'oya' and having assembled near the 'oya' had started wondering what to do at that time. Finally they had come to a decision of calling the 119 to contact Peradeniya Police and report the incident.
In the meantime some youngsters had got together and cut the tyres of the motor cycles of the varsity boys and girl to deplete the air in the tyres. It was done to prevent them from making a hasty retreat. Whatever it is, the Peradeniya Police had arrived on the scene and accosted these 5 undergraduates who had comported themselves in this disgraceful manner.
After coming to know that it was a group of 4 young boys and 1 girl of the third Year from the Science and Agriculture Faculty of the University of Peradeniya who had behaved this way were taken by surprise. The young clique had then admitted that they had brought 2 bottles of arrak and came to that spot in order to have some fun. They had also admitted that they had behaved in a queer manner because they were not in their proper senses and had apologised for their behaviour. Whatever it is, it is reported that on seeing the police arrive at a distance had thrown the mobile camera with the nude photos into the 'oya'.
The Peradeniya Police arrived and and after producing them for a medical examination confirmed that all of them were under liquor. Among this clique, the girl concerned was an undergraduate from Katugastota, Kandy and the others were from Meegalewa, Aranayaka, Galnewa and Boralegomuwa areas. The four of them were expected to be produced before Kandy Courts yesterday (26). The police said that the female undergraduate was handed over to her brother and released that way. The 3 motor cycles on which they had come were transported to the police station in a lorry.
