The Minister of lands M K D S Gunawardana said that a political decision has to be taken on giving nominations to the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa to contest from SLFP.

 Expressing his ideas he further stated that the team got together and left the government with Maithripala Sirisena to defeat Mahinda Rajapaksa keeping the death warrant in their hands.  In case if Maithripala Sirisena was defeated in the presidential election, we all who supported him wouldn’t be there today.

Hence, if Mahinda is given nominations, there will be a life threat to president Maithripala.  “So, we force the president not to give nominations to Mahinda.  If Mahinda is given nominations, the ministers, parliamentarians and the public who supported Maithripala Sirisena to be the president will happen to pay from their lives or to be in jails” was added by Minister MKDS Gunawardena.
