THE  ACTING SOLICITOR GERENALCOURT SUSPECTS THAT THE DECISION OF MOUNT LAVINIA MAGISTRATE TO GIVE BAIL TO ABREW WAS NOT IMPARTIAL


The additional solicitor general Yasantha Kodagoda has stated to the supreme courts today that the Mount Lavinia magistrate had
been very partial towards in the context of the post held by  the supreme courts judge Sarath  De Abrew who was accused for assaulting and for sexually abusing his domestic servant, due to his power held as a Judge of the Supreme Court.

He has made this statement at the time of inquiring the petition forwarded by De Abrew requesting not to take him into custody.  The panel of judges then ordered to present the report issued by the Mount Lavinia courts.  The case was heard in front of the Supreme Courts judges Upali Abeyratne and Anil Gunaratne.

This came up because this accused has been given bail on the production of Rupees 5 lakhs without considering his past records.  However nothing was stated at the courts today regarding not taking him in to custody as suggested.
