The attempts of the Chief Minister of the Western provincial council to obtain nominations for the

forthcoming general elections to contest from Gampaha district would prove futile it is learnt. He had been having confidence in obtaining nominations from the United Peoples Freedom Alliance ticket to contest from Gampaha district in the forthcoming general election.

It is reported that the names of his own brothers Arjuna Ranatunga and Ruwan Ranatunga have already been included in the nomination list in the UPFA nominations list.

However the final decision has not officially made yet. However in regard to the accusations of the purchases of lands illegally Prasanna Ranatunga had been called to obtain a statement by the police financial frauds investigations unit today the 08th instant.
