Presidential Elections used the name Percy Mahendra Rajapaksha and it was for that name that he got the approval from the Elections Commissioner. There was even a hulabaloo among the social media about it those days.

When forwarding nominations of the United People's Freedom Alliance from Kurunegala District today the name of the former President was stated as 'Mahinda Rajapaksha' only. As such it is observed that he had appeared with his genuine name last time while this time he had appeared in his more popular name.
