BAIL FOR COMPANY DIRECTOR WHO RAPED 22 YEAR OLD GIRL ....
BY GIVING CHOCOLATES, PHONE
A Company director who was accused of raping a 22 year old young girl was released yesterday by
the Colombo District Court on a bail of Rs. one million.
The said girl had complained to the Police Special Investigation Unit against this director in the month of March last year. What she had said was that she came to know this Company director at a certain radio channel. She said that when she had gone there for a 11 year old's children's programme the person concerned had approached her and had given her a parcel of chocolates and later after asking where her house was had even come home. On the day he had come he had thrown a valuable mobile phone to the compound as if he had forgotten. When going to hand over the phone a friendship had developed between the two.
Subsequently for close upon a period of 10 years he had been meeting her and had been trying to give her hopes. However since he was a married man she had avoided him, the girl had said. Whatever it is, she had been duped and taken to a hotel and the Company director had taken steps to rape her. Later he had consoled her by saying that he would marry her. But such a thing had not happened. As such, she has sought the assistance of the police.
The said Company director is supposed to be one Prasad Nanayakkara as mentioned by the courts reporter; but what his Company was not stated.
