Stuck inside film hall ... comes out following morning!

An incident is reported from Tambuttegama area where a

person was stuck inside a cinema hall in the night, unable to come out and had been wailing and shouting inside after which he was able to come out of the hall many hours later with the support of the 119 Police Emergency Unit.

The individual who faced the incident was a teacher by profession. It was alone that he had gone to watch the 9.30 show at a reputed film hall situated in Tambuttegama on the 6th of this month. He had dozed off when the film was being shown and after the film was over the other members of the audience had gone away and thus there had been no one to wake him up while he was incidentally in deep sleep. Even the manager and the other employees had been unable to notice this person inside the hall. They had in fact switched off the lights as usual and locked up the hall and then set off home having finished their duties.

In the meantime this person had woken up around 12 in the night and on looking around had felt that he was all alone in total darkness. Though he had approached all exits he found that the doors of the hall had been all locked in a manner that they could not be unlocked, leaving him helpless. Even though he had begun to yell saying, "Aney ... rescue me ...help me to get out", there had been nobody in the vicinity of the hall to lend ear to him. Subsequently it came to his mind to contact the police over his phone and convey the message hoping for a solution. It was in that way that he had informed of his predicament to 119 Emergency Unit.

Although the police went into action and had arrived at the hall to rescue him, they had realised that the manager and other employees had locked up all doors and had gone home. It had been a difficult task to locate their whereabouts that night itself. As such the police who consoled the helpless teacher had suggested to him that he remain there until dawn. Thus the teacher who was stuck inside this hall was able to achieve freedom only on the morning the following day it was understood and only when the manager arrived at the hall.
