Canteens at Colombo campus and Thurstan, Royal Colleges found as unhygienic
The public health inspectors of the Colombo Municipal council had carried out routine
inspections at the canteens of the Colombo campus,Royal and Thurstan colleges. All three canteens had been found to have been unhygienic.
They have been reported to the Maligawatta Magistrate owing to the unhygienic manner the canteens have been kept and maintained.
The Magistrate at Maligawatta courts had fined a sum of rupees three thousand to the owners of the Colombo campus canteen, while a sum of rupees two thousand had been fined to the owners of the Thurstan college canteen while the owners of the Royal college canteen had been thoroughly warned to keep the canteen in a hygienic condition.It had also revealed that a worm had been found from the Colombo campus canteen which had been reported to the Maligawatta courts.
