Wife jumps into well complaining that a woman is speaking to husband!

Mother and one daughter out of danger .... baby dies!

As a result of a family conflict that ensued last Tuesday between husband and wife in Morakele

area in Marawila, most unfortunately a one-year old baby tragically succumbed to death.

A conflict has erupted in this house throughout the last few days where a person attached to the Air Force, his wife and two daughters were living. It was because of an incident where a woman had been speaking to the woman's husband. The wife had suspected that this outside woman to be his paramour and thus had entered into various arguments with the husband which ultimately went too far.

Last Tuesday evening at a moment when the husband received a call from the said woman's voice, the wife had become agitated and had entered into a dispute threatening him saying "if this is not stopped I'll commit suicide with my children!" Later, when midnight was drawing nigh the mental pressure that resulted from this anger which went beyond limits actually had caused her to decid to put an end to her life and finally she had gone towards a well down their garden with her two children, unaware of the husband and had first pushed the one year old baby into the well. Later she had proceeded to jump into the well carrying the other 8 year old daughter. Before much time passed by she had sensed the risk of committing suicide when she started involuntarily swallowing water. At that instance the mother and elder daughter began to yell out thinking of coming out of the well by clutching on to the rope to which the bucket was tied.

On that occasion the neighbours who heard the screaming had immediately come running there and had observed voices of the mother and daughter from inside the well which was absolutely dark and had used the aid of torches tied to ropes striving to take the two of them out of the well. Though the victims suffered injuries, their lives were rescued in the process. During the rescue operations it has not been possible to rescue the baby who had been initially thrown into the well. Unfortunately this baby who had sunk to the bottom of the well had left the world.

In this connection, an year old girl named Kavisha Nethum died while Madhuva Sanjana (8) and her mother R.H. Sudarshana (36) were admitted to Marawila Base Hospital with injuries.

When the police questioned the husband serving the Air Force about the supposed illicit affair, he responded saying that he had received these calls from a woman whom he knows and that his wife had suspected him in vain. It was revealed at investigations that his wife had on a number of occasions informed neighbours about this conflict.

The dead baby's corpse is lying at the mortuary of Marawila Base Hospital while the mother and other daughter are still undergoing treatment at Marawila Base Hospital. Koswatta Police are continuing with further investigations.
