Two Police personnel killed in Van-Lorry collision
A group of Police personnel had travelled in a van to Ududumbara area in Kandy to attend to a funeral house. While returning the van
had collided with a lorry in Denapitiya area in Hunnasgiriya in a serious accident. A police sub inspector and a police constable have been killed on the spot while three other police personnel had been admitted to hospital for treatment of injuries sustained.

This accident had occurred in the wee hours of the 17th morning. Those killed are Sub Inspector of police, Jagath Gnanasinghe 53 years old and police constable Chaminda Jayawardena 31 years old both attached to the Galaha police station.
The police personnel of the Ududumbara police station had revealed that the driver of the van had fallen asleep on the steering wheel as a result the van had collided with a lorry and toppled causing the deaths of two police personnel and injuring three others.
