Government decides to close Salu Sala, pay compensation to employees

S.S.Miyanwela has quipped that a decision has been taken at the highest level to close down the Salu Sala institution and pay compensation to all employees.

The employees have agreed for a voluntary compensation scheme. A program has been negotiated to pay salaries up to June this year and then pay compensation on an agreed basis thereafter.

The Salu Sala institution was established in the year 1967 and registered in the year 1971 under the State Trading Corporation. This institution had been running at continuous loses and hence it has been decided to close it.The head office is located at Jawatta road Colombo 5 and has branches in Kurunegala,Badulla,Ampara,Galagedara,Galle,Unawatuna,Ratnapura and Kalutara and there are 219 employees attached to them.
