Veteran actor Daya Alwis ... passes away from sudden accident
Veteran actor Daya Alwis who was taking treatment at the hospital having faced a sudden motor accident
passed away this morning. He was 72 years at the time of his death. Mr. Daya Alwis was subjected to an accident involving a three-wheeler in front of his house sometime back during evening time. Since no bodily injuries or wounds were apparent, he initially did not admit himself to the hospital. However, internal bleeding has occured and his head has undergone a contusion as a result of the accident.
He had been undergoing treatment at the Neurological Unit at the Sri Jayawardenepura and after the scan done on him, it was reported that there had been a severe condition of internal bleeding in his brain and was in a serious condition. Though it was possible to stop the flow of blood by surgery, his life rested on the machines attached to his body.
By last morning his pressure had dropped; but unfortunately early this morning around 3.50 he passed away.
His final rites will be informed later.
