The Deputy Chief of former Presidential unit nabbed for earning money selling Namal’s name

During the regime of the previous government it was reported

that a number of persons had been in the practice of cheating several people and earning money by selling the names of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa and his son Namal Rajapaksa. Although many of these bogus persons were caught for promising jobs and taking huge sums of money a employee of the president’s who was supposed to be the deputy Chief of the president’s media unit had been nabbed for selling Namal Rajapaksa’s name and duping many people promising jobs by taking huge sums of money.

This person Ashroff Ali had been taken into custody and remanded until the 30th of this month.He had been working in the Tamil media unit and in the public relation unit in the previous government and had continued his service as before after the new government came into power.He had been caught for misappropriating a sum of rupees seven lakhs eighty seven thousand five hundred from misleading several people promising to offer jobs in the presidential media unit.

He has been arrested by the police on complaints made and it is learnt that he has been evading arrest and travelled overseas but had been nabbed at the Bandaranaike International Airport when he was returning from a flight.
