Sri Lanka’s 2nd Zoological gardens next to Elephant orphanage in Pinnawela

The first phase of the second Zoological gardens in Sri Lanka is to be opened on the 17th instant for the viewing of the tourists. A sum of rupees
483 million has been spent on it.

A land of 140 acres adjoining to the Pinnawela elephant orphanage has been bought by the Zoological department. For the initial phase 47 acres have been acquired from the Wargolla farm .It is learnt that this area in greater than the extent of land of the Zoological gardens in Dehiwala. There are security walls, internal roads, water tanks, and sheds to house the animals, quarters for workers and official residents for all responsible staff all have been built according to a plan.

On the 17th April it would be opened by M/s Kabbir Hasshim,Navin Dissanayake,Wasantha Senanayake,Champika Ranawaka ,Sajith Premadasa,Ministers and deputy Ministers.
