Police attacks IUSF Bikkhu undergraduates with tear gas and water cannons

This afternoon when the Bikkhu undergraduates

of the Inter University Students Federation staged a protest opposite the premises of the University Grants Commission the police had dispersed them using tear gas and high pressure water cannons.

This has been as a few Bikkhu undergraduates had tried to forcibly enter into the premises of the University Grants commission it is learnt.

The Bikkhu undergraduates of the Inter University Students Federation had commenced a protest opposite the Fort railway station in the morning against the pruning of the number of Bikkhu undergraduates to be admitted to the Universities.They had from there gone in a procession to the university grants commission when this unfortunate incident had taken place.
