Poisonous gas from a gem pit in Ratnapura kills four (Video)

On the 08th evening at around 5 p.m in a lake in Hagowa area in Girimale,Ratnapura a group of

six men had been engaged in gemming. Four had unfortunately died when they had inhaled a poisonous gas that had emanated from the gem pit. One other is been treated in the Intensive care unit of the Ratnapura hospital.

All of them were residents of Girimale.The deceased have been identifies as D.A Jayasekara 33,K.U.Sujeewa 33,K.D.Siripala38, and N.K.Namunukula 59 years old. The one who is treated at the intensive care unit in the Ratnapura hospital is D.A.Piyadasa.
