petrol shed in Kandy area has been appointed as the new Basnayake Nilame of the Kataragama Devalaya.

The media had reported that a number of reputed businessmen had thrown lots of money in contention for this post. However latest reports reveal that D.G.Kumarage had been unanimously appointed uncontested. The new Basnayake Nilame Kumarage is 60 years old and would continue to be the Basnayake Nilame of the Kataragama Devalaya for the next 05 years.
