If John's no confidence is defeated 100 Days story is over

We're going for a General Election - Ranil

If the no confidence motion brought against Minister for Public Order Minister John Amaratunga by the Opposition for giving orders to relese a group of people who had
assaulted the Chairman of the Provincial Council and some others from police bail is settled, UNP Opposition Leader Mr. Ranil Wickremasingha said today at Siri Kotha that as he feels that there is no majority in parliament, the 100 Day programme would be suspended and the parliament would be dissolved. Mr. Wickremasingha expressed the ideas at the UNP Headquarters in the presence of the Executive Committee that the objective of abolishing the Executive Powers and the presenting of the 18th Amendment would be lost to this country if this no confidence motion is adopted.

Though the no confidence motion has been handed over to the Speaker Mr.Chamal Rajapaksa with 114 members of the Opposition signing for it, it has still not been taken in for consideration. The Prime Minister has sounded the Speaker that proposals about the change in the Constitution and other important Acts suggested under the 100 Day Action Plan may be lost if things proceed this way and to give a date as soon as possible for the debate against John Amaratunga.
