Chief Pilot of crashed aircraft ... married just one and a half months before!
Husband of relative daughter of Minister Mahindananda
Five persons have died from the unfortunate plane crash that occured early this morning in Hokandara.
The Chief Pilot who died in this accident is Squadron Leader Wasantha Abeywardena. The
deceased has got married just about one half months ago and is an Old Boy of Royal College. He counts 2239 flying hours to his credit as his experience; but on this occasion he has been unable to control the aircraft because of the severe mist that prevailed at that time, thus meeting with this unanticipated tragedy.
The victim was a resident of Kurunegala and had entered into marriage with Naomi Aluthgamage, a close relative of Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
It is sorrowful to note that the day before the accident their wedding photos had been published across the Facebook and various people had sent their greetings and wishes.
