Drug dealer 'Kudu Lalitha' killed in Athurugiriya shooting



How 'Kudu Lalitha' faced death .... when travelling in Honda Fit in Athurugiriya

A drug kingpin travelling from Athurugiriya to Kaduwela happened to engage in a'battle' with the police near Oruwela Hospital around 5.15 in the evening.

Vidana Mudiyanselage Lalitha Kaushalya alias Kudu Lalitha who was a mass-scale drug dealer distributing heroin all over the country for a period of time lost his life from gunshots aimed at him Anti-narcotics officers.

He had been fired at when travelling in a Fit Hybrid motor vehicle across Athurugiriya towards Kaduwela. Kudu Lalitha who received serious injuries on the occasion died by the time he was admitted to hospital for treatment.

Kudu Lalitha was born and bred in Maligawattha area in Colombo and had for a long time been involved in bringing Kerala Ganja and had engaged in the business of distributing it in the country and after later getting to know a Pakistani national had got together with him and engaged in drug-trafficking, police sources say. 

Police have received information during the past that Kudu Lalitha had kept an intimate alliance with kingpin drug-traffickers of the underworld such as Mamashi, Karate Dhammika, Ambiga and Olcott of Colombo and had made use of their association to continue with his business. He was cordoned by the Police Narcotics Division with 8 kgs and 200 grms of heroin in his possession on June 11th 2011 in a house in Bomiriya and was remanded being later bailed out about 4 months before and was subjected to this shooting incident after coming out and  once again engaging in the same business of drug-trafficking. 

Sometime back the Police Narcotics Division were able to unravel information that it was Kudu Lalitha who had been supplying drug dealers including Damitha of Magazine Road, Keselwattha Dinuka, Japan Chuti of Grandpass, Kota Gamini, Podi Lokka of Grandpass, Loku Lokka and Wellampitiya Kasippu Raja in the suburbs of Colombo.

Kudu Lalitha had received the support of two politicians in Colombo for drug-trafficking and he had lived in great luxury from his earnings in drug-trafficking and had even possessed a number of houses in and around Colombo with other fixed assets too, police report.
