Who kidnapped Keshali of poor family in Kurunegala .... by cutting polythene covering of wall?
An unanticipated incident was reported of a cute little girl of 4 years being abducted from Kurunegala yesterday. The girl had been so kidnapped early last morning when she had been sleeping on a bed close to her elder brother in the same room and it has
been found that some people had entered the premises and cut open the polythene covers surrounding the house instead of the wall and had removed the small girl.
The cute toddler Pamara Keshali Bandara was just 4 years and 3 months old, living in a house in Pannawa area in Nikadalupotha, Kurunegala and she was the second child of the couple Bandara Wijekoon (40) and H.M.Nishanthi Herath.
It is understood that this abduction had been committed between 1.30 and 2.00 early in the morning when she was with her parents in this partially-constructed house; but it has still not been unravelled as to the purpose of this abduction. The police say that there does not seem to be a case of ransom involved as this couple was in poverty.
This is how Binul Pavithra (9) her elder brother who slept close to the abducted girl had to say: "Amma, thaaththa and chooty nangi slept. When I was sleeping, I remember as if a hand was hovering over me... I thought it was loku nangi's hand. After a while a cold wind blew across and I awoke. I got up to see nangi was not there. I called thaaththa and asked if nangi was in their bed. Only then that thaaththa also came to know that nangi is missing".
The missing girl's father said, "Putha got up and asked whether nangi is with us. Only then that I saw moonlight falling inside the house. When I looked around a little bit more, I saw that the polythene cover tied to the house cut at two places. I knew that duwa who was sleeping on the bed was not there. So I called the 119 and told them. My duwa who used to wake up even if a hand would brush against her .... had not woken up even when somebody had taken her away. If duwa made a noise, we would immediately wake up. There was only a gap of about 3 or 4 feet between the bed where duwa and putha slept and where we slept.
Parents of the abducted child had earned their living by making 'peni walalu' and their house has been so far only less than half completed. Even the parapet walls have still not been finished while the house has been covered only with polythene covers. The house has still no electricity supply.
Police are conducting investigations over a person who had been coming to this house on a push-cycle inquiring about a house in the area day-before-yesterday (8). In the process, he householders also reported that the key of the main door too has disappeared.
When the police were investigating the house, some clothes of the child's mother were found cut into separate pieces.
In order to search for the kidnapped girl, about 20 special police teams have been deployed.
To continue with further investigations into the incident of the abduction of the child, special police investigation teams from the CID have been sent to Wellawa area yesterday.
