Sri Lankan crowned Toastmasters World Champion

How the Sri Lankan who won Best English Speaker Award .... made his speech (video)

Mr. Dhananjaya Hettiarachchi of Sri Lanka was successful in clinching the Crown for the International Award for the Best English Speaker at the 75th 'Toastmaster' International Championship held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
He returned to Sri Lanka yesterday.


This happens to be the very first occasion when an Asian national bagged the International Award in the history of 'Toastmaster' International Competition within the period of 75 years. Over 30,000 speakers participated from 14,500 Toastmaster Associations and from 126 countries all over the world, which competition is held annually.

Dhananjaya who made a speech for 7 minutes on the topic 'I see something' in the competition held on this occasion was able to grasp the attention of the entire audience.

The message which was embedded in his speech which brought out humour in the process captured the interest of the audience which ultimately contributed towards his victory.

Dhananjaya who at present is employed as a Human Resource Manager is an Old Boy of S. Thomas' College,Mount Lavinia.
