Chief Minister -- Cabinet Minister & 'Thamuse'

Saying 'Thamuse' is the language of carters! ....
dialogue between Minister and Chief Minister

Late Berty Premalal, Chief Minister of North-Central Province and the present Chief Minister, S.M. Ranjith were both not on good terms with each other. Dumminda Dissanayaka, son of Late Mr. Berty Premalal is presently a Cabinet Minister.

Messrs. Dumminda Dissanayaka and S.M. Ranjith both received invitations as invitees to lay thefoundation stone for the Mahindodaya Science Faculty at Shri Siddhartha National School in Eppawela yesterday (26). An exchange of words took place between the two of them as to who should be the chief guest on this occasion.

The dialogue which took place between the two of them is as follows:
Ranjith: These have been handed over to me he President.
Dumminda: What have you been assigned in school when there is a Cabinet Minister? He's the person who will become the chief guest in a festival. Talk what you know.
Ranjith: You are the people who change these.
Dumminda: What ...? Where have we changed? I am asking you to correct your mistake.
Ranjith: It you 'Thamusela' who made the mistake .... in front of people ....
Dumminda: Learn to talk. You're saying 'Thamuse' .... Are you a carter? A carter?

After the dialogue, the meeting was held at the festival and on that occasion the two of them took their seats close to each other, staring a one another. Later when both parties got the chance to make their speeches, Minister Dumminda spoke about the misunderstanding concerned: "A person in the area told me 'Thamuse'. So, I asked him whether he was a carter. He then stopped talking. That's each person's level of education. So we should not get upset about it.It's because of people like that the North-West Province has come down".
